Ecumen Scholars
Learn by Doing
The Ecumen Scholars Program strengthens nursing capacity throughout Minnesota and builds the future leadership of senior care. Through the Ecumen Scholars Program, you’ll work with seniors at a variety of care levels including transitional care or rehabilitation, assisted living, dementia care and home care.
Internship Program
Under the direction of an RN preceptor, interns will further their understanding of professional nursing, gaining experience and confidence working with seniors, while developing their clinical skills. Interns will have the opportunity to job shadow an experienced nursing professional, who will provide the support and guidance needed to grow professionally.
This is an 80 hour 1:1 opportunity that offers a $1,500 stipend on successful completion.
Home Care Externship Program
This program offers a unique learning experience for student nurses who will develop knowledge and practice in community-based senior care that promotes an exceptional patient experience. Under the direction of an RN preceptor, externs will further their understanding of professional nursing, gaining experience and confidence working with seniors, while developing their clinical skills.
This is a 40 hour 1:1 opportunity that offers a $1,000 stipend on successful completion. Home Care externships are offered in three locations: Duluth, MN; Litchfield, MN and Mankato, MN.
Leadership Fellowship Program
Nursing students preparing for a Bachelor’s Degree can apply for the Leadership Fellowship Program. Each Fellow works closely with Clinical Directors from Ecumen, gaining valuable insights into non-hospital senior care. Floor rotations and classroom session ensure a rounded experience.
This is an intensive 120-hour opportunity for cohorts of 10 students and offers a $3,000 stipend on successful completion. In 2018 the program locations are Ecumen Pathstone Living in Mankato, MN, and Ecumen Lakeshore in Duluth, MN.
Gerontological Clinical Rotations
Nursing students participate in a gerontological nursing clinical rotation at Ecumen communities near their campuses. Check with your school to find out if an Ecumen community is on your rotation schedule.
